The Gusii Educational and Advancement Resources (GEAR) organization is one of the outcomes of the recommendations of the Gusii Educational Conference held on Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Maple Grove Community Center, Minnesota, US. The conference was organized and sponsored by Minnesota Kenya International Association (MKIDA) in order to find out how members of the national and international Gusii diaspora can contribute to the improvement of educational standards in the Gusii districts of Kenya.
